| Bollywood fever gripped Melbourne, Australia, as Festival Melbourne2006 celebrates India’s popular culture with at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne. Featuring Bollywood singing sensation Sunidhi Chauhan and her extraordinary troupe of singers, the spectacular also featured lavishly costumed dancers choreographed by Delhi’s Gilles Chuyen and a special appearance by Rajasthan’s Jaipur Kawa Brass Band. Mixing the essence of Bollywood – film, dance, colourful costumes and Sunidhi’s extraordinary vocal power all directed by theatre director and producer Sanjoy K Roy, it was a night to remember and a fitting finale to the cultural festival and Melbourne’s hosting of the Commonwealth Games. Bollywood at the Bowl was specially produced for Festival Melbourne2006 by Teamwork Films. Festival Melbourne2006, an integral part of the Melbourne2006 Commonwealth Games, was an international event offering 11 days of non-stop music, dance, circus, street theatre and visual art in a range of venues across the State, including Melbourne’s great outdoors.
